A good taste is something that most of us attempt to accomplish in the kitchen. It is not always easy though. Being the type of cook that adds a pinch of this and a dollop of that, means it is very hard to replicate anything that gets served up at meal-times. I do the taste test as I go along, but it is not until I see the faces of the people sat around the table, that I know whether I can give myself a pat on the back or not.

Wouldn’t it be nice, if we as Christians, could have the right balance of taste in our own Spiritual walk. So much so, that others would ask us for our recipe. Let’s face it, we may be the ony example of a Christian that they get a taste of.

Our Heavenly Father is a master chef when it comes to achieving His purposes for our lives. If we believe that He created us in His image, we should aim to look appetising in all situations. 

By allowing Him, He will transform us from bland mortals, into well seasoned immortals.

Some might say it is the right blend of spices, while others may suggest it is the length of time you leave it cooking. To my mind we need both, in order to get the best out of this delightfully yummy dish.  The longer you leave a curry cooking, the better the absorption of all the spices into the remaining ingredients and the richer the taste becomes.

I can’t help but wonder if this is the kind of process that God uses on us, as he takes us along our path towards christian maturity. We are the ingredients that He has to work with, while we walk this journey called life.  Allowing the Holy Spirit to soak into our inner most beings, not only makes us more palatable to those around, we eventually become a fit dish to be served up before the King of Kings.

So the next time you feel you are up to your necks in hot water and being simmered on a low heat, it may be worth asking yourself. Is God trying to penetrate an ingredient in my life that has been too tough to get into before?

God never makes mistakes when it comes to weighing up the ingredient. We just find them hard to digest at times.
